Summary:

Our eclectic gallery offers fine art, global in scope, emphasizing works from the West and Southwest.  The collection includes works of many artists seen in diverse styles, subjects, mediums and eras. Also offered are selected hand-knotted Oriental and Persian rugs (antique, semi-antique & contemporary), plus vintage hand woven Navajo rugs.

Located in Albuquerque's Old Town, our eclectic gallery offers fine art from the 20th century, the 19th century and earlier, as well as a few select contemporary pieces. This unique collection, while global in scope, emphasizes art work drawn from the West and Southwest, particularly New Mexico. Fine art from throughout the other regions of the United States is well represented here.  A significant part of Nemat Galleries' collection originated in Latin America and Europe, with diverse pieces having found their way here from Canada, the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Oceania.  Various styles, subjects, and mediums are represented in the works of many artists: known, unknown, and anonymous.  Styles range from classical realism to impressionistic to abstract; works of classically schooled artists and works of traditionally mentored “folk” artists.  Subjects include landscapes (desert, forest, seashore, mountain), city scenes, marine views, historical and religious subjects, portraits, flowers and still-lifes, animals, scenes of people engaged every-day life, and non-objective work.  Mediums include paintings in oil, acrylic, and mixed media;  works on paper that include water-colors, pastels and drawings; engravings, lithographs, photographs; sculpture, carvings, pottery; textiles and more.

Textiles include unique hand-woven and/or hand-embroidered pieces. Our hand-knotted and hand woven Oriental and Persian rugs - antique, semi-antique and contemporary - come in a variety of colors, sizes , patterns and designs. Coming from closer to home, vintage Navajo rugs round out our inventory.
