Duncraig Manor & Gardens

Upon entering this completely restored Manor House you are taken back in time to experience what living was like for the wealthy in the 1930s.  There are modern amenities but the room configurations and most bath fixtures are original.  When you book a room at Duncraig Manor you will have a choice of 7 accommodations.  Each one has a private bath, some are located in the room and others are just a step or so away.  The floor plans show these details.  Robes are provided in each room for the use of guests.  The rate of $195.00 per night, single or double occupancy, is the same for all rooms or suites.  Descriptions of rooms and suites are viewed from the rooms menu.

Duncraig Manor, an English Country Tudor Style home, was built for the family of the Chairman of the Quaker Oats Company.  Construction began in 1928 and the architect designed it for the needs of this well-to-do family.  The Manor has well-segmented floor plans.  The center section of this 12,600 square foot house has the living room and library on the main level and two large bedrooms for the adult family members on the second floor.  There is a wing on the west side of the house that contains bedrooms for the children and their nanny on both the main and upper levels.  The ground level of this wing is where the children’s playroom is located along with a kitchenette and a full bath (now the Spa Lounge and Bath).  There is another wing on the east side of the house with bedrooms for the hired help on the second floor and kitchen, butler’s pantry, dining rooms and a staff office on the main level.  Attached to the east wing is a 3-car garage with a small 2-room apartment above.
