Julie Rose DeFeo has been a glass bead artist and a jewelry designer for over 20 years. With a passion for earthy colors and nature-inspired shapes, Julie’s work reflects her love of the Southwest. Julie works out of her home studio in Santa Fe, NM. She has studied with Kate Fowle Meleney, John Winter, Tink Martin, Michael Mangiafico, Holly Cooper, and Loren Stump.
Julie’s work has been shown in Chicago, Tucson, Philadelphia, Palo Alto, Taos and Santa Fe. She serves on the advisory board of the Taos Institute for Glass Arts and her jewelry can be seen in City of Mud gallery and Baca Street Beads in Santa Fe NM. Julie is a patient and inspiring instructor who has run classes, workshops and ongoing creativity groups.
I have been making lampworked beads for almost two decades and have studied with Loren Stump, Emilio Santini, Lisa St. Martin, Sage and Tom Holland, Lewis Wilson, Julie Clinton and Will Stokes, James Minton, Liz Mears, Kate Fowle and Lucio Bubacco. I offer lessons in my studio in Santa Fe, New Mexico and have studio time available for lampworkers who do not have their own facilities.
Donna's Designs lampworked beads are sold at several local and international bead shops including the Bead Museum in Glendale, AZ and Beadazzled in Washington, D.C. Examples of my finished jewelry are available at the Corning Glass Center, Corning, NY; Kittrell-Riffkind Glass Gallery, Dallas, TX; Artisans Gallery, McLean, VA; Arts Afire Glass Gallery, Alexandria, VA and Artisans United, Annandale, VA. I also bring back lampworked beads from the Czech Republic and sterling silver beads from Turkey, both for use in my own work and for retail sale.
