Huntington, New York, calls to those seeking a destination within easy reach of Manhattan, but also those who would prefer to stay away from the hubbub of the Big Apple and somewhere a little more low-key. On Long Island, Huntington offers outdoor adventure, historic attractions and plenty of dining and shopping. But, of course, as you enjoy it all, you’ll need a place to stay. 1. Oheka Castle
One look at Oheka Castle and you’ll ask yourself if you’re still on Long Island, or if you’ve somehow been transported to a grand European estate. The historic property, built in 1919, has acted as a playground for the world’s rich and famous, as well as a backdrop for popular movies and television shows. Today, it also acts as a hotel for those lucky enough to snag a room.
