Most folks look forward to a slower pace in retirement, but not Kurt and Melissa Godwin! They found a fulfilling second act as Discovery Map franchise owners. Since 2021, their love for our hand-drawn maps has made them an important part of the Cape Coral and Fort Myers communities.

In 2022 their journey took a tough turn. Hurricane Ian hit Southwest Florida hard that spring. It wasn’t just damage to buildings – many local businesses featured on Kurt and Melissa’s maps were in serious trouble. When others might have given up, Kurt and Melissa showed what they were made of.

They didn’t back down. Instead, they saw their maps as a way to help their community get back on its feet. They set to work, reaching out to businesses old and new to understand how things had changed. They weren’t just selling ads, they were partners in recovery.
