Established in 1763, Stowe has a long history. Indeed, Stowe played an important role in the in the development U. S. ski industry. The ski museum in the center of town play testament to that fact. As if there could be any doubt once you see Mount Mansfield, its front four and all the other great ski trails the area has to offer.
Make no mistake though. Stowe is no longer just a ski village. The area offers all that beautiful mountains offer. From organized sports like gold and tennis to a peaceful walk in the woods, Stowe has what a body – and mind – needs any time of the year.
Stowe also hosts numerous arts and crafts shows and even a balloon festival. The community has a vibrant tourism economy all four seasons. During the winter months, skiers flock to Vermont’s tallest peak with access to over 100 trails defending Mt. Mansfield (Vermont’s tallest mountain) and other peaks in the Green Mountain range. In summer, numerous full service resorts along with inns and intimate B & B’s offer guests a respite. Don’t forget the fall foliage, the vibrant colors of which can be seen only in Vermont.
