About Colorado Springs

Nestled against the backdrop of the majestic Rocky Mountains, Colorado Springs blends natural beauty, outdoor adventure, and a vibrant downtown. As the second-largest city in Colorado, it's renowned for its stunning landscapes, diverse recreational opportunities, and rich history.

One of the city's most iconic landmarks is the Garden of the Gods, a geological wonder where towering red rock formations create a surreal landscape. Visitors can hike, rock climb, or simply wander through this free public park, marveling at the unique formations against the backdrop of Pikes Peak.

Speaking of Pikes Peak, it's an ever-present symbol of the region, offering a challenging hike or a scenic drive to its summit, where breathtaking panoramic views await. The cog railway is another option to reach the top, allowing visitors to enjoy the journey as much as the destination.

For those seeking outdoor adventures, Colorado Springs offers an abundance of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. The nearby Cheyenne Mountain State Park and Pike National Forest provide even more opportunities for exploration.

The city's historic district, Old Colorado City, exudes charm with its quaint shops, art galleries, and local eateries. Downtown Colorado Springs is a hub of cultural activity, featuring a vibrant arts scene, live music venues, and a variety of dining options. The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center and the Pikes Peak Center for the Performing Arts are cultural landmarks that enrich the city's cultural landscape.

Military history is deeply rooted in Colorado Springs, as it's home to the United States Air Force Academy and the Peterson Air Force Base. Visitors can explore the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center, where elite athletes prepare for the world stage.

Additionally, Colorado Springs is a gateway to numerous day trips and excursions. Manitou Springs, with its historic charm and mineral springs, is just a stone's throw away. The Royal Gorge Bridge and the charming mountain town of Cripple Creek are also within easy reach.

About the Publisher

I live in beautiful Colorado Springs, an incredible place we feel blessed to have discovered, with my husband Nick and our three daughters. Colorado Springs is the ultimate microcosm of America, sitting near its geographic center while boasting incredible nature, an exciting “Old West” history, and unique traits like a heavy military and Olympic training presence..

Since moving here from New England, our joy of exploring the region ourselves has been surpassed only by that of showing it to our family and friends. In that spirit, we started Discovery Map Colorado Springs, a way for us to share all that Colorado Springs has to offer with visitors from all over the world.

As frequent travelers, we would often encounter and rely on Discovery Maps to plan vacations all over the country. During one particular trip to Cape Coral, Florida, it dawned on us that we could combine our passions for travel, maps, and Colorado Springs by starting our own Discovery Map!

We’re proud to play a small part in showcasing Colorado Springs to the world while supporting local businesses and helping our city to prosper. Please enjoy our map and this wonderful community!
