Lane and Evelyn have been married 40 years, have two married children and two grandchildren. They enjoy travelling, reading, trying to stay fit and helping with area non-profits.
For the past 35 years, they have been self-employed entrepreneurs, that’s when they started an advertising agency, which is still going strong. They focus on direct mail and TV advertising for about 20 clients. During that time they have also developed a 111-lot residential subdivision, owned restaurants and started a community newspaper, among other ventures. Evelyn started a travel agency five years ago and has seen tremendous growth in her business. She focuses on river and ocean cruises, resorts, and land tours. Lane earned his real estate license two years ago. He has been active in Tullahoma community leadership since 1982, serving as a city alderman, member of the Tennessee General Assembly and 17 years as Tullahoma mayor.
In early 2019 they invested in a Discovery Map franchise and it has been a fun learning experience. The map name is Southern, Middle Tennessee and covers five rural counties generally between Nashville and Chattanooga. The largest community in the market, Tullahoma, has a population of about 20,000. This area is not what one would call a “tourist destination”. By far the largest attraction is the Jack Daniels Distillery. The area has three beautiful lakes, waterfalls, and a lot of outdoor activities. Lane and Evelyn's goal with Discovery Map is to call attention to tourism assets for both locals and tourists and encourage tourists to stay in the area longer.
